Pasighat is the oldest town of Arunachal Pradesh and founded in 1911 A. D. by the British as a gateway to administrative convenience of the greater Abor Hills and the north area in general. Nestled along the shores of beautiful mighty Siang River (also known as the Brahmaputra), Pasighat sits as the ‘Gateway to Arunachal Pradesh’ and it is blessed with an enchanting scenic beauty of lush forests, majestic mountains, sparkling waterfalls & splendidly gorgeous hanging bridges. Pasighat is considered one of the safest cities in North East India. 

Pasighat is the education capital of Arunachal Pradesh. The significant development in Pasighat that came aer that was the Apex Professional University established on 10th May 2013. The Government of India included Pasighat in the Smart Cities Mission development scheme in June, 2017. Pasighat is well connected by Air and Train Services from Guwahati. With the inauguration of Bogibeel bridge over river Brahmaputra, it will be a journey of 2-3 hours from Dibrugarh.


Arunachal Pradesh, meaning “Land of the Rising Sun,” for long has been a recognized region of the Indian subcontinent, receiving mention in such Ancient Indian literature as the Kalika-purana & the epic poems Mahabharata & Ramayana. Formerly known as the North East Frontier Agency (from the British colonial era), the area was part of Assam until it was made the Indian union territory of Arunachal Pradesh in 1972, & in 1987 it became an Indian state. 

Arunachal Pradesh constitutes a mountainous area in the extreme northeastern part of the country & is bordered by the kingdom of Bhutan to the west, the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north, Myanmar (Burma) & the Indian state of Nagaland to the south & southeast, & the Indian state of Assam to the south & southwest.
